Environment and prop renders for Ball Is Life, a retro-futuristic first-person arcade basketball roguelike set inside a televised game show. Rendered entirely in-engine in Unity 6 URP.
Wanted to push the visuals of Ball Is Life and take portfolio renders directly in Unity 6 URP. Performance being a core pillar meant baked lightmaps for GI — which ended up being a welcome change of pace. The real challenge was making sure the environment held up on spotlights alone, no directional light, no ambient fill. The color temperature contrast between the warm practical lights and the cooler bounce off the walls was intentional and does a lot of the heavy lifting.
The art direction follows strong color theory throughout — a painterly approach to color and roughness that purposefully feeds the atmosphere
